I had so much fun sanding this old worn down buffet and making it look pretty again! 

The top of this table was sanded down and stained using Java gel stain. We painted the legs of the table and chairs in Antique White milk paint then slightly distressed them. Finally we added the perfect pop of color when we reupholstered the chairs and just love how everything turned out! 

Sweet dreams are in store with this soft gray nightstand. The top is newly stained in Gray Gel stain. The body is a light gray with a whitewashing technique, white ceramic knobs enhance the drawers. Sealed and protected with Flat HP Topcoat. Ready for slumber!

This lovely Berkey & Gay buffet originally came to me in extremely decent shape for its age.  However, there were some small blemishes I was not fond of including two water spots and a scratch on the top. Refinishing was out of the question so I decided to restore it utilizing my favorite and trusted products from General Finishes.  The entire buffet was stripped of its original finish, sanded and cleaned. I wanted to stay as close to the original finish as possible but wanted it a touch darker.

This amazing piece came from the Fabulous Fox Theater in Atlanta, GA.  It was in the secret apartment inside the theater and owned Joe Patten, the Phantom of the Fox.  Although in overall good condition, the top had multiple scatches and worn areas.  I stripped the top and applied a combination of  General Finishes Java and Antique Walnut Gel Stains to match the existing finish on the cabinet.   I refreshed the rest of piece by applying the combined Gel Stains over the existing finish.

This side table started out with heat damage and scratches.  After removing the existing top coat, a good sanding and cleaning, the table top was taped off.  Using the natural color of the wood and General Finishes Gel Stain in Nutmeg was used to create a harliquin pattern.  The base was painted in Valspar Paint in Pure Silk.  The body was distressed by sanding and a coat of General Finishes High Performance Top Coat was applied to the entire piece to give it a good seal.  To add a little more charm, the drawer was lined with decoupaged fabric.  

Body of desk was painted in crisp white. All wood trim was freshened up with GF Georgian Cherry Gel Stain. Top was stripped, then a coat of GF Medium Brown water based DYE Stain was applied before using the Georgian Cherry Gel Stain to stencil the design on top. Pulls were cleaned and painted in a brushed nickle, then top was sealed for durability.

Painted in a custom mixed color of Queenstown Gray and Lamp Black. The wood areas are stained with Java Gel and whole body sealed with HPTC Satin. I gave this piece a medium distress in all the right spots!

My Honey Oak Stair Railing was not cutting it in my house, so it had to go! Well, the color did anyway and Java Gel Stain was the one to replace it. I love the look paired with my upgraded Java Gel kitchen and everything else I Java Gel Stained in my house. First I cleaned the railing with 50/50 Denatured Alcohol and water and then sanded with a high grit sandpaper. I followed that by applying 3 coats of GF Java Gel Stain and then 3 coats of GF High Performance Satin Topcoat. It was tedious work but the finished project makes it so worth it.

I have been wanting to refinish a dresser with this look and I finally found the perfect one! The frame of the dresser is painted in Antique White and the drawers stained with Java gel. There will definitely be more dressers coming with this look. I wanted to keep this one for us but our house is already full! 

We updated this dresser with Tuscan Red  and java gel .   We painted two coats  of Red and them added the java gel over the paint to give it a more cherrywood feel. We took out the old shutter insert on the door and added a metal feature. added new hardware .  

This oak dining set got a stunning makeover. Painted in General Finishes Persian Blue and freshly restained using General Finishes American Oak Gel Stain and sealed with General Finishes Gel Top Coat. 

This 1920's table was well crafted with self-storing leaves and beautiful detailing.  Years opening and closing of the table to place and store the leaves had taken a toll on the original finish leaving it with deep scratches and gouges.  After stripping the top, General Finishes Antique Walnut Gel Stain was appllied using two coats. The legs, base and skirting was painted in General Finishes Milk Paint in Linen and lightly distressed.  General Finishes High Performance Top Coat in Flat was applied to both finishes.  

This Duncannon Phyfe style table was scratched and beat before it recieved a good sanding.  Georgian Cherry General Finishes Gel Stain was applied to the top of the table and finished with a coat of polyurethane.  The base of the table was painted in blue and distressed by sanding and sealed with General Finishes High Performance Top Coat in Matte.  

This desk is refinished in a Coastal Blue Milk Paint and finished on all sides to allow flexible room placement.  An abundance of drawers provide extra storage and stained in Java Gel Stain along with the top.  The hardware was updated in gold to finish the look.

This antique empire dresser was given a makeover with 'Amy Howard' chalk based paint and light wax.  The wood grain of the drawers was beautifully enhanced by General Finishes Gel stain in Nutmeg.  The result provided a beautiful contrast of colors, lines and textures.

This beautiful but dated secretary came to us to find new life. We sanded to bare wood, to remove years of product build up, then stained with GF Antique Walnut Gel Stain and top coated with SW Kem Aqua Lacquer, sprayed.

My husband and I had been looking for a dining room table in a farmhouse style to fit in our new home.  It had to be a specific size and color.  I had seen many tutorials on upcycled furniture and knew exactly what I wanted and couldn't find one anywhere.  So being a crafty person and not afraid to try new mediums I set to work on finding the perfect used table and chairs in our local online garage sale site.  And there it was!  The most beat up table and chairs I could find.  It was heavy solid wood and just begging for me to make it beautiful again.  

The sun shone on the drawer fronts of this fabulous MCM dresser just at the right time. Highlighting the gorgeous wood grain and color.  Java gel and Antique walnut gel were mixed to get just the right color.  Antique white milk paintis the perfect compliment to the gel stain.  Sealed with High Performance top coat in satin.   

Stripped and Sanded this table...It was a Full Size table..Cut 6 inches out of the Middle and Glued it back together...Painted the Skirt and Legs and Stained the Top with GF Java Gel Stain...Finished with Polyurethane..

Hello beautiful wood grain!  Sometimes you come across a piece that just stops you in your tracks.  This was one of those pieces for me.  The wood grain on this chest was jaw dropping and could not be covered up with paint.  This gorgeous cedar chest was refinished with a custom mix of General Finishes Antique Walnut and Nutmeg gel stains.  This custom color allowed the grain to really pop.  What you see is an amazing showcase of color variation and depth!  

She's elegant & sleek with a ton of storage and just look at those claw legs!! She's finished in a navy blue and GF Brown mahogany gel stain with gorgeous gold hardware to keep her classy! This beauty features 7 fully functional drawers, all lined in a stunning navy blue cotton fabric accented with gold flowers. Three large mahogany stained drawers are set back behind two large armoire doors. The top of has also been refinished in GF mahogany gel stain.

Her Measurements: 34" wide by 19" deep by 51.5" tall 

It's hard to believe this table top and skirt were one wrapped in Formica. My client explained to me this was the table he grew up eating at. His mother had it covered with Formica to protect if. When he and his wife inherited this set they removed the Formica. Unfortunately chunks of wood also left with the Formica and adhesive remained. The clients did an amazing job sanding the top of the table and removing the adhesive. They wanted the table too stained to coordinate with woodwork in their kitchen.

General Finishes Gel Stains are without a doubt, one of my favorite secret weapons!

They are probably the most versatile product I use... you can completely refinish bare wood, go over properly prepped existing finishes to completely change the color or even just freshen up an existing finish!

When I did a drop leaf table for a client, my mom fell in love with it and had to have one herself! I sanded down the top of the table and wiped back the excess. I added the gel stain to the legs only in the areas that was worn. Applied the high performance top coat when it was dry. 

General Finishes Java Gel Stain and Top Coat add the perfect artistic touch to this vintage vanity and chair! 

Love these little end tables! I was trying to mask the flowers on them but im not sure I accomplished that. I used custom mix valspar chalk paint with java gel stain to give them a slight masculine touch. 

I used 2 coats of General Finishes Grey Gel Stain on the top of this table and 3 coats of General Finishes Snow White on the base of the table. I then sealed it with 3 coats of General Finishes High Performance Top Coat in Flat.

This project involved bring back a fine crafted antique dressing vanity. The beautiful walnut veneers on this piece made this restoration a no brainer! We started with a deep clean and removial of existing finishes, lots of hand work with denatured alcohol, including a little tooth brush work. Our next step was the application of Java gel stain to even out the newly cleaned piece, we restained the complete project excluding the drawers. The veneer on the drawers looked great in their natural condition.

 

This unique sideboard/buffet , circa late 1800's is a beautiful piece of furniture! Painted in General Finishes Lamp Black, lightly distressed and top coated in a satin finish. The top, doors and drawer were sanded down, leaving some of the imperfections to show  the age and character of this piece. It is stained with General Finishes Brown Mahogany gel stain and sealed with Arm R Seal. This beauty is solid wood, heavy and will last another 100 years! All the locks work and she has a key!

When our client requested a unique table for his new home we couldn't pass up this century old, quater sawn oak, paw foot table. The finish was badly worn but the potential for this piece to truly stand out was still there. Our client requested an all black table but there was no way we could paint over all of that beautiful tiger oak grain! We decided to use General Finishes Driftwood as the base color for the pedestal and skirt, and Pitch black Glaze Effects for added contrast and visual texture.

I'll be honest. I have a slight obsession with rocking chairs. Their place in the home goes well beyond a nursery. They make wonderful additions to your family room, bedroom, or that quaint little nook!

The chair was refreshed with General Finishes Antique Walnut and Black gel stains and sealed with hemp oil. Trendy new black and white designer fabric in a geometric print replaced the old dated fabric. This rocking chair is now the perfect mix of vintage and modern!

Stripping off a pine tar varnish displayed a beautiful mahogany wood. Base coat with Georgian cherry and then blending in a layer of candlelite gel gives a warm tone to display the library. 

This pub table was restored giving it an eye-catching design. We used several different gel stains from General Finshes to achieve this look.  We blend the gel stain as we go to give the table top a unique look. We want our tables to be the star of the show. 

This huge desk was refinished with MMS milk paint in Trophy and GF Antique Walnut Gel Stain.

This desk was given a beautiful makeover using Java Gel Stain,  Antique White Milk Paint, and sealed with High Performance Top Coat_Satin. 

This aged beauty has a new lease on life with Java stain and peacock blue paint.  

I wanted to update this cute set, but wanted something a little different. Applied GF gray gel stain, not wiping back, to the table top. Painted the chairs in GF milk paint & applied lasting high-performance topcoat in Semi gloss to the whole set. 

These 2 pieces were being handed down from a late Grandpa to his Grandson. Solid pieces but lots of scratches & some repairs needed. I started by cleaning the pieces, repairing & sanding them. Next I applied a slip coat of Mineral Spirits, & 2 coats of GF Antique Walnut Gel Stain, wiping back. GF High Performance Top Coat in Semi-Gloss was then applied to give protective flawless finish. Cleaned & applied Rub & Buff on handles. 

Refinished Buffet painted Benjamin Moore's Oxford White. The top was refinished with General Finishes Java Gel Stain and sealed with the High Preformance satin polyurethane for protection. This buffet has 3 smooth running drawers and 2 side cabinets with shelf for extra handy storage--

Beautiful classic lines are accentuated by the use of Lamp Black Milk Paint and Georgian Cherry Gel Stain on this vintage sideboard. The Milk Paint was lightly sanded to let the red undertones in the wood show through. Original brass hardware polished up perfectly and adds a bright contrast against the rich stained wood tones. This classic piece offers plenty of storage too for either dining room or large foyer. 

This two tone regal beauty was done in Lamp black and Java gel with high performance top coats. Just the right combination to highlight all it's gorgeous detail!

Love this sweet little hutch. My client for pintrewt pictutes for inspiration and I fell in love with the two toned look. Java gel stain and cream paint.

This large oak table was in need of a makeover - it was totally hand sanded and refinished with a combination of Candlelite and Antique Walnut Gel Stains that generated this lovely color.  

I found a vintage cedar chest at an estate sale from a magificent house that had been occupied by five generations of one family. I knew this piece needed a dramatic makeover and I had just seen a great GF tutorial on how easy it is to apply gel stain. I decided that the top should be finished with gel stain in black. I applied two coats of stain exactly as the video showed and it came out perfect! After I painted the body gray I felt it needed a glaze. I learned that the gel stain could be made into a glaze by adding mineral spirits, so I made a small batch in a plastic cup.

A client brought me these vintage banker's chairs that needed to be refreshed. Their bones were great; the existing finish was just a little tired. The chairs were stained in General Finishes Antique Walnut gel stain which enhanced the wood tone beautifully. They are ready to make a presence in my client's entryway! 

From a lead based olive Greene to bringing it back to its original beauty. This piece was a charmer! 

As soon as I got this oiece I knew I had to do some research on it to figure out its name so I could get new hinges. When I found the perfect ones, that just happened to gold, I knew the table had to be black. And here we are, black gel stained table.

Beautiful Empire dresser with delicate veneer, so a careful refresh was in order.  A light sanding and some Antique Walnut gel stain along with Arm R Seal to protect and its true beauty was brought back to the surface.  

On my home from work I see a woman and her elderly mother had put some dilapidating antique furniture on curb in desperate need of some TLC. Compelled to stop they tell me it is their late grandmother's furniture that has sat in their shed for years. The base was cracked,  missing some laminate and the top was deeply scratched.

This Vintage Queen Anne dining set went from drab to fab using Java Gel Stain! We used the stain more like a paint a laid it on thick for lots of coverage let it throughly dry between coats. We're calling this baby 'Three Times A Charm' because three coats of Java, and three coats of Arm-R-Seal, (with a little buffing in between) did the charm to make this beauty shine! The combination of Java Gel Stain and Arm-R-Seal in Satin gave this table top a rich chocolatey look with gloss so smooth and shiny you could see your reflection!

Revealing beautiful woodgrain can make a piece like this rustic farmhouse dresser worth the effort. A heavily stained top is now completely refurbished with Java Gel Stain after water marks were bleached out. A charming Eastlake era piece also has new keyhole covers that match the original design. Painted interior drawers offer lots of storage for that charming spot in guest room or hallway. 

An unwanted side table gets a makeover with General Finishes. After sanding down the top, General Finishes Antique Walnut Gel Stain was applied to the top to achieve this beautiful look with the wood grain showing through. The body was painted with Driftwood Milk Paint and the entire piece was finished off using General Finishes High Performance Top Coat in Satin. 

This was a fun project. Great bones and curves. Sanded, stained with Gel stain in Java. Custom mix of Lamp Black and Klein Blue. Perfect in a little boys room. 

My husband was wanting an executive desk so as soon as he saw this one, he fell in love with it. He told me I could do what I wanted with it as long as it had a dark stain. It had a trerrible ink stain on it so I sanded it down, it was so embedded in the grain that it discouloured it on spots but I loved it and thought it gave the desk charachter so I just clear coated it. I did the body in georgrian cherry gel stain. 

A magical blend of  stains and paints to create a beautiful occassion table .

We replaced our outdated countertops to butcherblock!  The warm Antique Walnut tone gives our kitchen such a welcoming feeling!  I applied with a cloth,  3 layers total.  Wiping off any excess between each coat.  Each coat gave another depth of richness!  Gel Stain offers gorgeous color with easy wipe on application!  

This gorgeous dining set was created for Valentine's Day.  The feature of this table is the rich Java Gel Stain on this tabletop.  Just look at that woodgrain!  The base and pedestal are perfect in red and the white chairs pull it all together with their coordinating upholstery.  This was given as a Valentine's Day gift for a special someone.

When I got my hands on this dresser I KNEW I needed to refinish the top -- it was too pretty to cover up! I used Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint in Artissimo on the body and drawers and sealed it all with hemp oil. I refinished the top using one of my favorite gel stains, General Finishes Java Gel Stain. I sealed the top with General Finishes Gel Topcoat for durability. I love how this one turned out! ❤️

When this vintage dresser first made its way into my stockpile it definitely was not a favorite of mine.  Every time I looked at it and tried to envision a new design all I could see was the face of one of those "Angry Birds"! 

I was surprised to learn that early airplane builder, Cessna, turned to building furniture during the lean years after the war. Their furniture was commissioned by the US government to furnish base family housing. Employees of Cessna were also allowed to purchase the furniture. This 1948 Cessna dresser has a most interesting build. The frame and drawer fronts are wood, but the entire interior is metal - including the dresser back and metal tapered legs. The metal drawer construction provides for precision drawer closing and fit.

I absolutely love this buffet my client needed me to restore. Her family got it over seas and it was really sun damaged. The grain was so open it took the gel stain so well. I used java gel stain on this piece.

I updated this beautiful waterfall vanity for my mother-in-law after it had sat out in their barn for 5+ years. It was dull, stained, and much of the veneer needed to be glued back down. But these beautiful art deco pieces are so well constructed they deserve a long life! I'm delighted with how well it turned out. It is a gorgeous addition to her bedroom. I used Candlelite Gel Stain and top coated with Gel Top Coat.

I refinished this vintage bankers chair in a custom blend of Java and Candlelite gel stain and finished with Arm-r-seal.

This gorgeous Stanley Dresser got an elegant and sophisticated makeover thanks to General Finishes Java Gel Stain. The drawer fronts, cabinet face, and top are all refinished using Java Gel Stain and Wipe On Urethane to bring out their gorgeous wood grain and give this piece its elegance. 

I spruced up this MCM dresser with GF Snow White and Satin Top Coat on the body. I used GF Brown Mahogany Gel Stain and Gel Top Coat for the drawer faces.

Vicki's desk was the perfect size for her space and offered her tons of storage with a easy way to hide life's messy moments. But there was one problem, it was dated and tired feeling. She wanted a new look for her work space and it started with transforming this functional desk into a beautiful piece for her to enjoy.

Sometimes your sitting there and you see something that makes your heart skip a beat, hands start shaking and your eyes cant close! This amazing Tiger oak, claw-feet, ornate dresser with original mirror was just that. I knew from the moment, I wanted to bring this sad, broken, dusty and torn dresser back to his original roots. With lots of sanding, filling, fixing and lots more of pure love. He is ready to be there for you next dirty martini or that Bourbon on the rocks. Hes ready to shine, dance, and be the talk of the town. You can never go wrong with some love and stain!!

This beautiful claw foot table was sanded then stained with 2 coats of Java gel stain. Then I applied 3 coats of High Performance top coat. When I received this table to redo for a client of mine, it had some damage, but it's amazing what can happen when you just give it some love and use General Finishes products.

This pair of nightstands is perfect for one on each side of the bed.  If storage, size, neutral pallet and fresh white aren't enough to draw you in, the woodgrain detail created with the wood graining tool and GF Java Gel Stain will  certainly win you over.  Simply stunning!

My glass table top broke. I wanted something that was inexpensive and fit a farmhouse style. I bought a piece of plain plywood at my local home improvement center. I applied Java Gel Stain First. Then I tapes of the length of the boards leaving a tiny gap in between. I then added Grey Gel Stain and Winter White glaze with extender to give me a faded look. 

This big sleek coffee table was once a pedestal dining table.  Modified down from it's original stature, it is now the focal point of any social living space.  After being stripped, sanded, and the grain stripped, this table was drenched in general finishes georgian cherry and black gel stains.  To give this beautiful oak veneer a little more pop, briwax ebony wax was used to fill the grain, followed by briwax clear wax for added protection and buffed to a satin sheen.  Waterlox original was used on the pedestal, legs, and rim to provide lasting protection and a gorgeous shine. 

Only one thing to do when your family member finds a beat up old table on Craigslist -- call in the woodworker to refinish.  The top was peeling and stained.

SOP:

- Cabinet scrap the old finish off the top 

-Scuffed the surface with 150grit sand paper 

-Apply General Finishes Nutmeg Gel Stain

-Seal Coat with dewaxed shellac

-Brush on General Finishes High Performance Flat Finish

 

Quick weekend project inbetween visiting family.  All ready for the next holiday dinner.  

The shell of this dresser was wiped with Java gel to shoe the wood grain and intentionally unevenly stained. The drawers were decoupaged with a poster that was cut to fit. Entire piece was top coated with General Finishes High Performance flat.New drawer pulls were put on to finish the look.

This all about pine piece came to me after being thrown out to the dump. 

It was crying out for a beautiful polished look that only the Java Gel Stain finished with a satin high performance top coat can give. 

After sanding and cleaning this little piece, I generously applied the java gel stain to the top.  4 coats later I had the wonderful full bodied colour I wanted.  

The colour to compliment the stained top was found in the what I call the summer take me to the beach colour, introducing Persian blue milk paint. 

and Linen for a soft warm addition. 

Matching set of twin vintage spindle beds!! ❤ These look so flipping gorgeous, they are magazine worthy, they dont even look like the same beds! Refinished in a two tone stain and paint combo, brought these pieces alive!

I painted this immaculate set in my custom made chalk paint recipe using Sherwin Williams Naval. All exposed wood has been stained in General Finishes Nutmeg Gel Stain. I accented all ornate wood carvings and details in 18k gold leaf. The hardware is original to the set and 18k gold leaf has also been applied. General Finishes High Performance Top Coat has been applied to ensure a long lasting and durable finish!

This gorgeous cherry sideboard was recently updated with fresh, farmhouse style. The top was stripped and stained with General Finishes Gel Satin in Java. The base was painted in layers of grey, distressed and sealed with clear and black waxes to create depth and leave a beautiful shades of grey finish. 

GF Java Gel Stain revitalized this dining set.  What was once dated and drab now has a new life as a MCM masterpiece.  The chairs were also refinished with GF Java Gel Stain and reupholstered in a neutral gray.  

I created this Compass Table for an upcycling contest.  As I wanted to get creative, I did not want to simply stain the table, so I decided to individually cut out each piece and stick it back together! I used real oak flooring panels (how appropriate!) to make a table top . I drew the pattern on the planks, that were put and then glued together and cut the shapes out one by one using a jigsaw. To create a nice look with different wood grains, I simply twisted the wooden pieces in different directions. I then glued each piece together on plywood.

This gorgeous secretary quickly and easily found a place in my home, staged with items naturally found in my home.  The exterior was finished in Annie Sloan Graphite, Clear Wax, and Black Wax.  All drawers, doors, details, even the balls of the claw feet were refinished with General Finishes Java Gel and sealed with General Finishes High Performance Top Coat.

Beautifully refinished with General Finish Gel Stain in Nutmeg. Clear coated for durability and shine with General Finish HPTC in satin. This beauty was brought back to life with this finish having been previously painted a hideous Brown color.

This Classic Revival Buffet must have been a show piece in its youth. The original hand-stenciled design on the doors and drawers were still mostly intact, but the wood finish had become faded and dull.  The top of the buffet had been damaged by sun and wear.  To revitalize this beauty, very light layers of General Finishes Gel Stain in Java were applied to the doors and drawers until the finish came back to life while preserving the original stenciling.   The  top of the buffet was and refreshed with Java Gel Stain, as well.

I am a sucker for stain and paint, its its the chic to my shabby. I knew when I saw this amazing tiger oak chest, I wanted to bring that masculine out and add some beauty to him. The deep blue pared with the dark stained drawers and top, made this bad boy ready to stand up and be the talk of the town!

This gorgeous cedar chest was a client of mines mothers who received it for a wedding present. My clients father had painted the chest white when he was in his 80's and was suffering from dementia. After the passing of her parents she inherented the chest and asked me to refinish it for her and she wanted it stained in a cherry color. I had never tried General Finishes Gel stains but thought I'd give it a go.

This piece was old, scratched up and needed a fresh new start. I stripped and sanded the whole thing down to raw wood. After that I directly applied General Finishes Java Gel Stain all over the entire piece. I repeated this step twice and then sealed the whole thing 3 times with General Finishes High Performance Top Coat in Flat. 

These gorgeous geometric barstools got an amazing face lift thanks to General Finishes Java Gel Stain and Wipe On Urethane. I added a hint of turquoise dry brushing and elegant copper legs to accent the beautiful dark wood.

I used 2 coats of General Finishes Gray Gel Stain  heavily wiping back & sanding inbetween each coat.   I wanted the grain of the wood to show through. Snow White paint on the chairs & sealed it all with 3 coats of GF topcoat in Satin. 

I'll be honest. I have a slight obsession with rocking chairs. Their place in the home goes well beyond a nursery. They make wonderful additions to your family room, bedroom, or that quaint little nook!

This adorable vintage rocking chair was refinished using General Finishes Antique Walnut and Black gel stains. The seat cushion was reupholstered in a nesting diamond designer fabric. The result is a perfect mix of vintage and modern design.

Absolutely in love with the way this piece turned out.  This piece needed some love when we found it at auction and with a little TLC, voila, brand new again!  This beauty was refinished in Java Gel stain and Lamp Black.  We sealed the paint with HP flat.  

This beautiful dresser has been adopted by her new owners and converted into a changing table. By sanding down to the natural oak wood, using Java Gel Stain for the top and front of drawers, Linen Milk Paint for the sides, Dark Wax and a clear wax to finish her, this lady has had her makeover and is ready for a night on the town (or up all night with a baby!). Her smooth ridges have been accented by the dark wax over the silky linen paint. This isn't adding lipstick to a pig, but bringing out her natural beauty she was born to be!

This piece was inspired by a recent trip to the beach. I love how the turquoise ombre mimics the deep blues of the water and I knew I wanted the top to have a raw wood look to compliment that beautiful hue. I chose General Finishes Gel Stain in Gray for the top. I applied it to the raw wood on top where I had removed the veneer that was peeling badly. Using mineral spirits I wiped back the gel stain to give a distressed look and almost have a driftwood feel.

Good evening everyone. I recently finished this gorgeous 1920's Sideboard. I painted this one Black and stained the top, doors and drawers with Java Gel by General Finishes. I had to sand this one down to the bare wood and remove the original finish and sealant that was pealing off. This stunning sideboard is going to a great home. I love all things white washed & weathered. I took an old table & chairs from two different sets to create a cohesive, elegant dining set. 

This MCM Broyhill Brasilia Credenza has new life after being refinished with GF Java Gel Stain.  The dark, rich tone is the perfect contrast to the white design.  Sleek and sophisticated.

This tall oak dresser was rescued off of the curb on trash day!  Using General Finishes' Java Gel Stain, I refinished the gorgeous oak wood top and drawer fronts.  For a flat finish, I sealed them with Flat Out Flat.  The rich java colored wood contrasts nicely with the vintage aqua paint color on the dresser body.  

We took this cupboard and gave it a new look, We painted it Antique White and used Java gel on the shelves. We then added legs to it to give it a new look for the bathroom for our client.

This was painted yellow, blue, and red when I got it. Who knew this beautiful grain was hiding under that paint! Restored in Antique Walnut Gel Stain and HPTC Satin.

I wanted this buffet I painted in Lamp Black to have a contrasting stained top. Also the wood on top was so beautiful I didn't want to paint over it, so I chose to stain it with General Finishes New Pine Gel Stain. I think it turned out so great and was the perfect contrast I was looking for on this piece.

This old table was worm out and ugly. I stripped the remaing finish off the top and sanded it completely down to a smooth surface and stained it with General Finishes Java Gel and sealed it with three coats of General Finishes Arm-r-Seal in satin. I painted the bottom in Vintage Market and Design paint in Santa Fe and sealed it with Polyvine wax finish.  

Java Gel Stain is a favorite amongst my clients and this is one of my favorite makeovers using it. She wanted a rustic blue base with a dark stained table top and EIGHT chairs to match. I found this table and two sets of four chairs from all different places. It's amazing how you can thrift pieces from different places and then paint them to look like they always belonged together! This table top had some beautiful patterns in the grain that I wanted to be sure were still there when I added the Java Gel Stain.

This French Provincial dining set has a blend of Gray and Antique Walnut gel stains on the top and Antque Walnut as the base and on the chairs.

The details on this table top are absolutely gorgeous so we knew there was only one choice to bring them out and that was Java gel stain. We sanded down the top and stained it using Java. We top coated it using Enduro Semi gloss urethane. We painted the base of the table and chairs using Persian blue milk paint and slightly distressed them. Finally we top coated the chairs and base with Enduro satin clear poly. It turned out beautifully! 

Although this Depression era dresser had good bones, it's worn factory finish did little to enhance the beautiful, varied veneers used to adorn the drawer fronts. After chemically stripping the top and drawer fronts, I carefully sanded the delicate veneers.  I stained the two different veneers in American Oak and Java Gel stains to give them a subtle contrast and call attention to the stunning curvy pattern. I stained the dresser top in Java Gel and topped all wood surfaces with my favorite wiping varnish, General Finishes Arm-R-Seal.

We took this 70's style desk for a client that her mom used for years as her sewing .  She wanted to give it new love and purpose.  We painted it in Antique White, we finished off the top with Java gel. We then added new hardware to give it a more updated look. 

Beautiful Regency Style Buffet refinished with General Finishes Gray Gel Stain and sealed with General Finishes High Preformence top coat. 

This stunning secretary was revived from a barn and brought back to life utilizing GF Brown Mahogany Gel Stain and High Performance Top Coat. Cleaned with denatured alcohol, scuff sanded, stained with a stain pad, brushed with top coat. Beautiful results!

This old IKEA hack was loved hard for 11 years. It had marker, gouges, Easter egg dye and more from Amy family of eight. It is now restored with java gel, coastal blue seating and chalky white. All sealed and protected with HPTC

This client wanted a black table top for her kitchen table that looked like a stained finish as opposed to a painted finish. This table had a laminate top so sanding down to the wood wasn't an option. Instead I used General Finishes Antique Walnut Gel Stain and Black Gel Stain to try and create a wood grain look that was mostly black. I am so happy with how it turned out and these products worked great together! I finished the top with General Finishes Gel Topcoat, my favorite topcoat for dining table tops.

You will want to get to work at this beautiful desk! Java Gel makes this writing surface a beauty to work at, rich & vibrant. The body is painted in Coastal Blue Milk Paint and matching chair is upholstered in a coordinating Kelly Ripa Home collection fabric to tie it altogether. Who wouldn't want to work at this classic beauty?

This is truly a stunning piece! Hand painted in one of my all time favorites finishes, Annie Sloan Louis Blue, which a beautiful subtle blue with an antique finish. The interior was stained in General Finishes Java. And with the gold leaf details and a touch of gold gilding, this piece is one of a kind.

This vintage extension table with two leaves had beautiful lines and was wonderfully made, but the finish had seen better days.  The chairs had exquisite carved detailing, but alas, they were all lost in the original brown finish.  To begin the tranformation, the top of the table was removed from the base. After sanding the top down, two coats of Java Gel Stain was applied. The seat bottoms of the chairs were refreshed in Java Gel Stain, as well.  The base of the table and the chairs were painted in General Finishes Milk Paint in Lamp Black.

This Jacobean Style China Cabinet is all dressed up.  When we brought it home it was in need of some tlc and updating.  With a light sand, a good cleaning and a few wood repairs, it was ready for white enamel on the shelves and Naval paint on the body. General Finishes Gel Stain in Java was used to show off its stunning legs and detail on the drawer.  The original knobs were scrubbed to bring out some shine while keeping the patina.  General Finishes High Performance Top Coat in Matte finished off and sealed this project.   

 

 

Body was painted in a soft white. New rope trim was added to dresser top and new trim around base. Top and drawer fronts were stripped to bare wood and GF Medium Brown water based DYE stain was applied. GF gel stain in GEORGIAN CHERRY was then used to stencil the finishing design on dresser top and drawer fronts before being sealed and adding new hardware.

Complete refinish on this solid Tiger Oak server.  Most of this piece was only oiled to let that natural oak color show through, but to help those tiger stripes make a statement, we used Java Gel stain.

This was a half stripped table of a soft pine that just was not pretty.  I sanded and then used 2 coats of GF Java Gel and used a green acrylic paint for stencil. Then top coated with a poly.  I then used GF White Milk paint for leg.  The chair were painted in the white milk paint and then upholestered to match the stenciling design of the table. 

I simply cleaned this gorgeous setup, and stained with Java gel stain, and sealed. They were to gorgeous to cover up

Purr-fection is how this duo could be described. Both the dresser and nightstand have a beautifully Java Gel stained top. Rich, dark yet still showing the grain of the wood. The body of the dresser and nightstand are painted in the soft, buttery color of Persian Blue. Silver hardware enhance the beauty of the duo. All pieces are sealed for protection with the amazing Flat on Flat topcoat to complete the look. A purr-fect addition to any bedroom!

This beautiful, hefty butcher-block table is sure to warm a room! The table top has been given new life with General Finishes "Antique Walnut"! The chairs are impeccable painted in General Finishes Milkpaint "Lamp Black"

A throw back from the '90's, this CD cabinet was very dated with a light oak finish.  After cleaning and prepping, I applied General Finishes Java Gel Stain over the exisiting finish.  Two coats later and some new hardware was enough to transcend this CD cabinet into a beautiful card catalog of yesteryear.    General FInishes High Performance Top Coat in Flat was applied to protect the finish.

This vintage dresser was in rough condition when it came home. After repairing chipped and broken areas on the body, the wood was restained using General Finishes Gel Stain in Nutmeg and painted in a rich red accent color. General Finishes High Perfomance Top Coat in Matte sealed the entire piece.  To add to her charm antiquing wax was applied.  The mirror was primed and painted on the back side with chalkboard paint to make a reversible mirror/chalkboard so the Lady in Red could be used traditionally, as a buffet or as a entryway table. 

  

Seeing double? Don't worry, it's not your vision!  These gorgeous dressers were painted a custom color mix of 50/50 Linen and Driftwood Milk Paint and the drawer fronts were stained in Nutmeg Gel Stain.

This old oak veneer waterfall style dresser had definitely seen better days.  It was on it's way to the landfill when we saved it.  This piece called for something to tone down the yellow of the oak.  After some major repairs we prepped it for Candlelight gel stain down the front followed by Lamp Black milk paint on the body.  Of course the pulls needed to be refinished black to match.  A little light distressing to add a character, then everything got a final coat of High Performance Poly in flat.  That combination made a striking finished piece.

Since the veener was already in disarray on this 1940's dresser, I carefully spent sometime removing it so that it exposed the beautiful wood underneath. After a process of sanding starting with 100 grit, then to 150 grit and finally to 220 grit giving the dresser a smooth finish and accept the stain. I started with the frame and top using 3 coats of General Finishes "Black" gel stain, and then staining the drawers and main body with 3 coats of General  Finishes "New Pine" gel stain.
