I originally started painting furniture as an affordable way to transform pieces of my own that were outdated but still beautiful.  With previous expierence in professional interior painting, I indulged in learning new techniques and exploring with color.  My love of refinishing furniture grew into a small business at a local antique market.  I now continue to create, explore, learn and have fun with color and design with furniture and beyond.

Bed and Breakfast

By Kimberly Marquart in MECHANICSBURG, PA.

Winning Category

This bench had a previous life as a bed frame and a tiger wood dining table.  When I bought the head and foot board it was terribly painted (looked semi spray painted) in a cream color.  The head and foot board were deconstructed and put back together to make the base of bench. I touched up the paint with Old Fashioned Milk Paint in the color of Light Cream because I didn't want the finish to be too perfect. A little sanding was done in places where there was too much paint and perfecion.  Leaves from an old tigerwood table top were cut and used as the bench seat.

Family Crest

This was my first piece I painted a few years ago.  It was an old dresser that belonged to my husband as a kid that sat in the basement of our previous house for years and had been through at least 12 flooded basements.  When we moved to our new home there was a large open space in the foyer that was perfect for this dresser.  I gave her a good scrubbing and sanding.  Applied a few coats of Valspar paint in a cream color and valspar chalkboard paint to the mirror.  The piece was then sealed with General Finishes Top Coat.

Country Charm

By Kimberly Marquart in MECHANICSBURG, PA.

Winning Category

This beauty had it's own personality and charm to begin with but needed an update.  The previous finish was stripped and sanded lightly.  Oil was applied in various places to help with distressing.  Homemade chalk style paint in the color Pure Silk was applied and further distressed. The inside of the dry sink was stained to give it a uniform look with the previously stained inner doors.  General Finishes High Performance Top Coat was applied to give the piece the durability to continue to stand the test of time.
