'Circe' Antique Depression-Era Dresser

By Diane Llewellyn Grover from The Paint Factory, Brush Tamer at The Paint Factory in Hillsboro, OR.

Winning Category

It was a beautiful piece as-is.  Gorgeous lines and carvings.  Solid construction.  Just lovely.

And as lovely as it was, I knew it could be exquisite.  I knew exactly the image that I would use.  'Circe Offering the Cup to Ulysses' by John William Waterhouse (1891). But as much as I love to do image transfer, I was a little nervous about how the piece would be received.  It's a piece that you either love or don't.  I don't think there's a middle ground on this one.

Lady of Shalott Table

By Lori Holdread at Sophistafunk Furniture in Trinidad, CO.

Winning Category

I use decoupage to get a master image onto my furniture piece, then I paint out from the image, using a mix of my own line and paint style, striving to meld intomthe master artist's work for a seamless furniture piece. I love the challenge of matching color and style, while at the same time making the piece my own by changing the dges of the masterwork and pulling it out to fit my furniture piece.

Paris clock table

By Kitt Harloff, Owner at Pink Kitten Kreations

Winning Category

I painted the legs and base with lamp black and the top in antique white. I allowed the top to dry in the direct sun to achieve the crackle effect on the top. I had to clock image printed in reverse and used liquitex to transfer it to the table top. Allowed it to dry overnight and very carefully rubbed off the paper using water and my finger. Once it was completely removed I allowed it to dry several hours then applied a clear topcoat.

Antique Typography Chest

By Darry Coggshall, Owner/Artist at GarageMama Vintage in Doylestown, PA.

Winning Category

This chest is one of my top 10 favorites I have done as an artisan. I couldn't wait to try out IOD's super-cool transfers and this one captured my love of flowers. Using a custom cream paint and GF's Van Dyke Brown Glaze Effects gave the chest a lovely time-worn, authentic dimension. This is definitely "the-one-that-got-away"!!

Alice in Wonderland Desk

By Painted Lady by Barbara Boyles, Owner at PAINTED LADY BY BARBARA BOYLES in North Little Rock, AR.

Winning Category

Alice in Wonderland desk featuring the White Rabbit: this is one of my favorite classics.

The desk is finished all the way around so that it can sit out in the center of the room. The shape of the desk was the perfect shape for this whimsical piece and it was fun to do!

The Madonna and Child Chest

By Nicole Martin, Owner at Altered Ending

Winning Category

Imagine you're exploring and Old, Abandoned Manor or Church...........somewhere deep in the European countryside.

You almost don't see her. She's in the corner, next to stacks upon stacks of dust covered junk.

As you make your way closer, you can see her curvy legs and a tiny glimmer of gold on a handle. As you wipe away the dust covering the front, you see the image of the Madonna and Child. Old.............Worn...........GLORIOUS.

I painted this piece with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in French Linen and Old White.

Faun and Nymths Playing - French Provincial dresser/nightstand

By Eva Procek, Owner at Reviving by Design in Middleton, WI.

Winning Category

This French Provincial dresser/nightstand caught my eye instantly the moment I saw it: elegant frame, serpentine drawers, cabriole legs, curvy edged top, ornamental details and beautiful hardware. The only problem: unsalvageable veneer on the top. Solution: image transfer that would follow a build up of the surface with layers of primer and paint, sanded in between to even, smooth finish. I envisioned this piece of furniture right away with playful, cheerful art on the top and happy colors complementing the image. I picked an image from series of paintings Faun and Nymths by H.
