Mitzie Tibbets
Owner/Designer at JoyUs by Design in VA.
I began painting furniture as a way to heal from my battle with Lyme Disease. I'm thankful for the opportunity to design and re-imagine furniture into something others will enjoy and treasure.
I strive to bring creativity, quality, and excellence into all of my projects. I do wish the judges could see my craftmanship in person. I am not one to just "slap" a coat of paint on the furniture. I do my best to ensure every detail is considered. I'm a firm believer in not cutting corners as a way to ensure that my customers receive the absolute best.
Having a furniture re-purposing business, when done with excellence, requires many talented behind-the-scenes assistance. Mine come in the form of my husband and 4 children as well as my parents and sisters who offer great support and encouragement. I couldn't do this without them.
I have gone from selling through social media to being an exclusive vendor at The Things I Love in historic downtown Manassas, VA. I am thrilled to have this opportunity to work alongside the owner, Joanne Wunderly.
Winning a design challenge would be an honor, not just for me but for all of those who have helped get me to this place. Thank you all for your hard work!
