Retro Glam

This Mid Century Modern Dixie dresser followed me home from an auction over a year ago. It's top was completely separated from the frame on one side and the center support and leg had been snapped off.  But, it had good bones, sleek lines and major potential!

I was able to custom redesign this piece for a repeat client's dining room, and it is the perfect fit for her space!

Once the structural repairs were made, I sanded the entire piece to bare wood.  The old hardware actually had two side by side screws, so the holes were plugged, filled and again sanded smooth.  And then the real fun began--painting!

Two coats of General Finishes Lamp Black milk paint hand painted on the body and a custom mix of Old Fashioned Milk Paint to give the drawers just the right shade of cream, not too white, not too yellow...just right.  HPTC in satin by General Finishes was the final step in giving this piece a strong, lasting, beautiful finish.

My client had requested some sort of black hardware.  During the transformation process I knew exactly which knobs would be the icing on the cake for this beauty.  I like to refer to these as *magic disco balls*, from some angles they are black and others crystal clear.  They bring just the right amount of bling to this one making it live up to its new style-- Retro Glam!
