Hand Stained Dogwood Library Table

By mmembellishments.com, Owner, Designer, Artist at M&M Embellishments in Franklin, PA.

I use a unique staining process to create artwork on furniture.  For this piece, the library table was stripped and sanded.  I then painted the base of the table/ desk with Velvet Finishes Luxurious (black), polished up the hardware, and went to work on the top.  I used Minwax Ebony for my staining.  I created the image and stained it onto the bare wood top.  I then applied a sanding sealer, which brought out the warmth and depth of the grain of the wood.  I then applied approximately 11 coats of General Finishes High Performance Top Coat. {I need to apply at least 6 -8 coats before I can start the sanding between the last three coats, otherwise I will sand into the stained design}.
