A Time to Grow

Each piece has a story!  I was contacted by my client to do a clock table depicting her daughters struggle to live. She was born a premie and was in the hospital for 5 months. Her original birthday was May 29 which was four months too soon, and came home November 15.  The time set on the hands is  the day she came home but a closer look at the top of the the hands depict her original birth date in Roman numerals. The top is hand painted but the drawer has a sweet little picture of Maddie  decoupaged inside of it. I painted the table white then aged it with brown glaze. The face of the clock was a transfer done by, the old fashioned way.  Filling in the numerals and lettering by hand. I then flicked black and brown to give it a spotted look. I had only been painting furniture a few months and this piece set the platform to hand painted, unique gifts. I love to make heirlooms out of ordinary pieces that would normally serve their purpose then be discarded. What a wonderful gift for this little girl as she grows and her momma to remember victory after victory, rejoicing with each new mile stone in the quest for life!
