Silver and Gold

By Eastcote Lane, Teresa in Wayne, PA.

This was one of those super traditional chests, with heavy hardware that made it look to me kind of like a trunk.

I had just gotten the General Finishes Pearl Effects and wanted to play...

I did a coat of GF Dark Chocolate so that I had a good solid dark base for the metallic (the wood had a bit of a red tinge that I didnt want to come through), I then sprayed the GF in Argentine, and was kinda blown away by how beautifully that sprays...it was one coat coverage and it was beautiful! I wanted it to be a bit aged looking and a little warmer so I did a coat of Autentico Dark Brown wax over the whole thing.

I didnt really like the clunky hardware so i thought I might make it dissappear a bit by painting it the same color....so i sprayed them with the argentine too, but then I rubbed in a little General Finishes Java Gel stain to age them, and give them a bit of depth. I actually ended up loving the hardware with it in the end... I think it makes the piece, how bout you? :-)
