My Mona Lisa

By Courtney Cole, Owner at Twig & Thyme Design in Sterling, VA.

My Mona Lisa. A fitting name for this girl after countless hours of meticulously handpainting all of her shimmering gold details.

This project began like most others, with a thorough cleaning to remove built up dirt and grime and surface sanding to smooth imperfections and improve paint adhesion. I sprayed her in several even coats of General Finishes Coastal Blue Milk Paint using my Homeright Paint Sprayer, sanding in between layers for a flawlessly smooth finish. I then sealed her in layers of General Finishes High Performance Top Coat in Semi-gloss for a rich lustrous sheen. Next I used a small brush and carefully hand painted her tiny details and jewelry trays in layer after layer of General Finishes Pearl Effects in Burnished, a bueautful glossy gold fit for a queen! Next her bright golden details were sealed in High Performance Top Coat for protection. To complete her glamorous look, we updated her hardware with stunning glass knobs from D.Lawless Hardware and we changed her seat upholstery and piping to a luxurious white faux velvet.
