This Bombe chest represents some of the best Marquetry of the 20th century, unfortunately much of the veneer was peeling away when we got our hands on it. We repaired the veneer by gluing and clamping it back together and in places where veneer was completely missing we used timber mate wood filler and various gel stains to match the Marquetry on the piece. The case was done in a white and Khaki custom mix and sealed with Annie Sloan clear wax and then further buffed with some clear briwax for some extra sheen. The hardware was cleaned, polished and lacquered as the finishing touch. The chest is once again finished, relevent and ready to take on the 21st century
