Found this great little bookcase at ReStore. I had been searching for something similar for years and finally found it. The bookcase is hardwood with a veneer finish. I wanted to refinish is right away but had an accident where I broke both of my ankles and was immobile for 8 weeks! This gave me plenty of time to peruse Pinterest and several General Finishes Facebook groups for inspiration.
When the Chicago weather finally broke and my break finally healed I was ready. I decided to paint my piece using GF Milk Paint in Lamp Black. I did a little cleaning and scruff sanding and then applied two coats of Lamp Black. I sanded in between coats with a 220 sanding pad and then finally added two top coats of Flat Out Flat top coat. I also distressed the edges to give it a antique look.
