Grandfather Clock Cabinet

By Courtney Cole, Owner at Twig & Thyme Design in Sterling, VA.

This heirloom piece, passed down three generations, was no longer functioning as orignally intended but was greatly loved and ready for a new use. We started this project by removing what was remaining of the clock mechanism and face, and then cleaned and prep sanded the surface. We hand painted Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White on the exterior carefully distressing through for a bit of aged charm and then sealed in Annie Sloan Clear Wax. We drilled holes on the interior edge for shelving hardware and made several removable shelves. We hand painted the interior and shelves in a custom mix of General Finishes Coastal Blue and Pure White Milk Paint for the perfect bright navy. This piece can now be used to display all of our customers cherished keepsakes.
