This vanity has fancy French Provincial lines and slender curvy legs. I wanted to give it a finish that hinted at a past life of grandiosity and glamour. A life that was well lived and is now a little faded and worn. To me that is the essence of shabby chic. Beginning with a base coat of white, two shades of watery grey were brushed on. I used a putty knife to add touches of pink and a bluish grey giving the appearance of many layers of old paint. The legs were painted a darker grey and fade up adding a bit of mystery and uniqueness. The top is reminiscent of old faded wallpaper achieved by running a decorative roller through watered down paint. It’s a little shabby but most definitely chic.
