The Elephant

By Eastcote Lane, Teresa in Wayne, PA.

This beautiful handmade wooden dresser was a thrift store save!

I have always had a special love for elephants, and I had just learned of a law being reversed about trophy hunting.

This was a quiet political statement for me, wanting to showcase their beauty and create a really special piece of furniture.

I used Maison Blanche vintage furniture paint in Wrought Iron on the case. and finished it in their dark brown wax.

I used an engineer print in grayscale for the elephant, and then hand painted the trim of the drowers to match the poster. I used Maison Blanche in Debutante, Confederate Gray, and maison white to blend in the edges of the drawers. I used an Elmer's Glue and water mix for my decoupage, and sealed the project with about 10 coats of GF HP Satin.

The hardest part was finding the right hardware and deciding where to put it! It was worth the hunt, I think the single drop handle I found on ebay were the perfect complement!

I love the way it turned out! do you?
