General Finishes

This is a one-of-a-kind original custom handmade king size bed. It includes headboard, footboard, and frame. This stunning bed was made from found architectural pieces that were collected over a one year period of time including: • Reclaimed rough hewn wood of various species • The striking star of the show, an 1800's gate from South America • Not to be overlooked an antique hand carved wooden door panel on the footboard • Copper caps on each of the four posts that have been aged to perfection with a beautiful blue/green patina Endless texture and detail combine to give this bed a timeless design that has a versatile look that adapts to numerous design styles... from Eclectic, Bohemian, Mediterranean, Spanish, Farmhouse- possibilities are endless. It is meticulously constructed to last more than a lifetime... this is an heirloom. I lightly sanded the Barnwood to pass the "hand brush test" but wanted to keep the delicious texture that it had. I gave some of the boards a light gray wash while leaving most boards in their natural state, only sealing with a clear wax (Annie Sloan Clear Wax) to lock the color variation in permanently.  The romantic wrought iron gate also had such a yummy crackly patina on it that I sealed it with Flat Out Flat by General Finishes to seal it all in and protect the finish.
