Dixie Style Decoupage Dresser

By Bethany Youssef, Owner at Madeline Jean Antiques & Restoration, LLC in Hampton Falls, NH.

Last summer I brought home this dresser from my road trip to New Jersey & Pennsylvania. This particular dresser is a Dixie style popular from the 1950's. This piece was my aunt's childhood dresser. It eventually was used by my 94 year old grandmother while she was in a nursing home. She passed away two years ago. Since then it's been sitting in a shed at my aunt's house in New Jersey. I told my aunt I could breathe new life into this piece so it can be enjoyed once again. She of course said, "Go for it!"

I decided to mod podge 3 out of the 4 drawers with this FANTASTIC contact paper from Hobby Lobby. This map is done in pastel colors and has a very antique vibe to it. I painted the top drawer Sage Green by Valspar and the rest of the dresser in a medium gray color called Cathedral Stone, also by Valspar.
