Courageous Boy's Batman

By Rebecca Findley at Way Back When, Once Again in Sterling, VA.

Each year for Christmas our family and little business reach out to the community to find a special project for a deserving family.  This piece was custom made for a young boy who lost his parents just before Christmas.  Him and his sister were fortunate enough to have distant relatives who quickly adopted him (and his sister).  The new guardians were scurrying weeks before Christmas (they arrived just a couple days before Christmas) to make their first holiday together special.  The community rallied and made an amazing fairy tale Christmas come true for the pair, including a fairy tale carriage with a hope chest filled with treasures from the community that my husband and another dad designed.  The out reach from the community was so great that it was featured on the Washington DC news as the feel good Christmas story of the year.  The 6 year old boy was a huge fan of Batman.  This vintage window was hand painted just for him and his new room.  The brave symbolic character was proudly hung to look over a very brave, young boy.
