This Black Beauty to took on a life of her own, she seemed to dictate to me as I listened and this beautiful masterpiece happened. This piece was a custom project done for an equestrian client. She wanted a hunting scene buffet so we put our heads together to come up with the images she would like and the rest was history! The body of the buffet seems to accentuate the images of the lovely lady on horse back with the fox and sweet rabbit looking on. Hopefully, she won’t find them, lol!
I think black is the perfect medium to allow whatever images or detail to pop! I loved working with the combo of wood, stain, and paint. I painted the body a soft black then allowed the beauty of the natural wood to come through after distressing. I then applied the stain and the transfers. The top was sanded, stained then sealed. After transfers were applied, then I hand painted them to fit the spaces that they occupied. I find that many times the images doesn’t fill the spaces so I tried to make them seem as if they were always there! I hope you enjoy the beauty and simplicity of this piece! Let her speak to your heart of adventure and conquest! You just may find that only your imagination limits what you can do when you give a piece the freedom to dictate to you!!
