The ornate carvings and detailing of this retractable table were lost in its original blonde oak finish.  To bring out its best, the top was stripped and water based wood stain in walnut was applied to reveal the rich grain and carved medallion corners.  The top was then hand rubbed to further enhance the grain.  The ornate base of the table with its detailing, intricate and pierced carvings and construction demanded special attention.  Several layers of Gray Limoge and Palace Gray paint were applied using drybrushing and wet distressing techniques.  Pearl Effects in Champagne, Argentine, and Burnished Pearl were appliied to further enhance the adornments of the table base.  Van Dyke glaze was added to effectively age the finish.  Top coat was applied to protect the stained table top as well as the painted base.
