1930's Vanity with a New Look

By John Suteu, Owner at Splendid Seconds in Apex, NC.

This beautiful vanity was sitting in a storage container on a farm for over 40 years when I discovered it, and knew this had to come home with me. After a good cleaning, I found quite a few imperfections and knew at that point paint / stain combination was in order, so after some repair and a good sanding it was time for this piece to shine. I sprayed 3 coats of General Finishes Snow White Milk Paint on the body, drawer faces and mirror frame and then applied 3 coats of General Finishes Georgian Cherry Gel Stain on the top. I finished it all off with 3 coats of General Finishes High Performance Satin Clear. The hardware was cleaned and then sprayed with a laquer black and reinstalled.
