General Finishes

This vintage storage box is made using pine boards. The top is a plywood board covered with foam and a neutral cotton fabric. The sides were assembled by gluing boards together and then cutting to size.  The 10 degree angle cut gives it a dramatic effect.  The edges were framed with an "L" shape molding and nailed into place. To ensure the top did not come off when used as a seat, we added a frame to the underside of the top.

This outdoor bench is a truly repurposed item that has a unique story with many years of memories behind it. The redwood used to make this bench - in it's entirety - was once a children's playground set. The playgroud set was first disassembled and taken to our workshop. The pieces of the set were planed to the correct thickness. We needed all of the pieces to match so that they could later fit together like a puzzle piece. The boards were then cut, laid out and glued in a specific pattern to achieve the look we were going for.

This beauty was found at an estate sale and was originally a brown stain. It was in great condition but was missing "pizzaz". We decided to paint this dated piece using General Finishes Antique White Milk Paint. We also used Kristi Kuehl's Pure Home Pearl Protective Glaze to add a bit of shimmer to the piece. General Finishes Satin Top Coat was used to give added protection to the top of this now modern farmhouse dresser. 

This mid-century waterfall dresser arrived to us needing a little love. It was missing a trim piece at the bottom which required us to make a custom piece to fit. This beauty needed a good sanding before applying the General Finishes Candlite Gel Stain and GF Lamp Black Milk Paint. The hardware needed a good cleaning using Brasso metal polish. 

This round and retro bedside table was a truly amazing garage sale find! In order to create this soft, elegant and modern "after" look we mixed 3 parts Persian Blue, 4 parts Seagull Gray and 1 part Antique White - all General Finishes paint.  For the top, we used General Finishes Java Gel Stain to give this piece beautiful contrast. General Finishes High Performance Top Coat was used to seal and protect. Feet were added to the piece to give it some extra height and there were no changes needed to the hardware - we love to keep as much of the original look as possible!
