The last couple years my brother, my sister-in-law and my nieces have been facing one challenge after another. Coming out successfully from one only to be hit with another. My SIL has always loved country chic so when she started talking about redoing their kitchen, I offered to make them an island. I wanted to give them a little sunshine on the dark periods they were experiencing.

I am in love with the process of creating. Whether it is painting furniture, painting a picture or repurposing something useless to something useful. It all makes me feel alive. It also makes my heart sing to know that I am keeping more things out of the landfill.
I have an amazing husband and 3 awesome daughters. I am grateful for my life everyday.

Santa Fe Turqoise Sideboard

After sanding and cleaning the old finish and dirt from this sideboard, the colour of the wood screamed "southwest " to me. I tried blending a variety of different colours and different paint brands. The only one that reminded me of Santa Fe was 3 parts Klein and 1 part Persian blue. I lightly applied several coats of the mix only to find it was a beautiful blue but wasn't quite right. I heavily sanded the sideboard and accented it with Patina green to give it the depth of Santa Fe turquoise.
