The idea behind this piece was to recreate a primitive pie safe that reminded me of my vacations as a child in the Smokey Mountains. It was created using all scrap clear pine with basic woodworking tools. It's constructed entirely with mortise and tenon and dowel pin joinery. There's a secret stash compartment hidden under the top piece that is accessible when removing the drawer. Gotta hide your valuables!

Hi! My name is Jackie. I live in Toledo Ohio. My business is Furniture Art Studio & Vintage Revival. I've always been artistic and love trying new things. I've been painting furniture for about two years now. I love taking something old and forgotten or unwanted and making it fabulous again. I pretty much let the piece speak to me and just dive right in!

Black Buffet

Winning Category
This beautiful vintage buffet was updated with a modern black finish. The front panels and drawer fronts were given some texture using Artisan Enhancements VP Antico and stencils. It was painted in General Finishes milk paint in Lamp Black. Some of the details were highlighted with Modern Masters metallic paint in Warm Silver. The top of the buffet was stenciled using a glaze made by adding the Lamp Black milk paint to a Scumble glazing solution. This created a translucent stencil. The project was finished in two coats of GF High performance top coat in Flat.

Ladies Vanity

This beautiful vanity was lightly sanded with 180 then 220 grit sandpaper. The beautiful burl wood top was then stained with GF dye stain in Amber.
I needed to add some extra oomph to the front of the drawer and mirror so using Artisan Enhancements VP Antico I did a raised stenciling effect. After it was completely dry I lightly sanded the stencil to knock down any rough edges.
I used Wise Owl paints in Weathervane, Bowie, Smokey Quartz and Begonia I sanded the paint doing a very light distress here and there.
