Scarlett

By Debbie, Owner and founder of "Vintage Sisters", Owner at Vintage Sisters in Jacksonville, FL.

When I found  Scarlett at a local flea market, I thought "Wow, she's a beauty but I sure would love to give her some charm". She was one of those pieces I knew right away needed to be a gourgous deep red with some added touches to bring out that charm. For the base I used Valspars Posh red mixed w/ Paint Minerals to create my mineral/chalk paint. Next I dry brushed on General Finishes Pitch Black Glaze creating a streaked wood grain look. The top was Painted with two coats of General Finishes Java gel stain allowing 48 hrs of dry time between coats. After a fine sand I went over the top with General finishes Bronze Pearl effects, using a brush in long continuous strokes going with the grain of the wood. Once dry the entire piece was sealed with 2 coats of General Finishes High Performance top coat. Adding new jewels (Hardware) and a lovely Paris burlap seemed to pull her together perfectly.I finished a sweet little chair and paired them up as if they always belonged together. With her new life and all that extra southern charm she lovingly gained her name "Scarlett"
