Grain Pop with Seal A Cell on Bookmatched Ebonized Maple

We've been commissioned to create two custom ebonized maple 20x18 C-Tables with steel chevron frames. We cut out top pieces from a large 8/4 big leaf Maple live edge slab and then resawed the piece to have a bookmatched pair of tops at a finished thickness of 5/8."  All bark voids and cracks were filled with System 3 tinted epoxy resin, the piece was ebonized using an aniline dye.  This video shows the first grain pop with General Finished Seal A Cell after ebonizing and finish sanding,

Seal a Cell on Mesquite Urban Lumber reclaimed Live Edge slab

First grain pop on this large figured Mesquite live edge slab that will be a waterfall coffee table. We are applying seal a cell prior to cutting the miter waterfall to help prevent any tear out. We followed that up with 2 coats of Arm R Seal Gloss with the last 2 top coats in Satin (gloss before satin for durability and clarity), half sheet sanding with 320 between coats.

Book Matched Live-Edge Sequoia Dining Table Finished with Arm-R-Seal

Winning Category

A local Sawyer saved this sequoia tree from being disposed of in a chipper. I bought a set of book matched slabs and made a big dining table or conference table out of them. I stored the slabs for a while until they were dry enough to work with.
