General Finishes

This vintage storage box is made using pine boards. The top is a plywood board covered with foam and a neutral cotton fabric. The sides were assembled by gluing boards together and then cutting to size.  The 10 degree angle cut gives it a dramatic effect.  The edges were framed with an "L" shape molding and nailed into place. To ensure the top did not come off when used as a seat, we added a frame to the underside of the top.  The added benefit of a clean line to the stapled fabric edge was a plus.  The color was achieved by applying a coat of Minwax Special Walnut over Minwax Early American. Once dried, we stenciled the word "vintage" with black acrylic paint and added a top coat of Minwax polyurathane for extra protection to the finish.
