Woods: Ash (Fraxinus americana), Black Walnut (Juglans nigra), Bloodwood (Brosimum rubescens), Gaboon Ebony (Diospyros Crassiflora)

This oriental inspired chest of drawers is constructed with traditional joinery methods and all dovetails are hand-cut. The case is made of ash and was treated with the Japanese method of Shou Sugi Ban in which the wood is burnt and then oiled. The drawer fronts and cover are made from a beautiful two inch thick slab of air dried black walnut.

The focal point of the piece is the cover's combination lock machined from solid bloodwood with three ebony dials. Holes in the outer ring of the lock match the fingertips of an open hand.
