My client asked me to come up with a creative way to incorporate her grandma’s desk into her home. The problem was she didn’t need another desk. We discussed what she did need and we decided to bring Grandma’s desk into the 21st century for use as a server. We removed the two center drawers and added wine cubbies. We added a platform base and bun feet to lift the height and added an adjustable center shelf for additional storage. The entire piece was then painted with General Finishes Brick Red, sealed with High Performance Top Coat in Satin, and adorned with new knobs of my client’s choosing. You’d hardly guess that this functional piece was once a dated wood desk.
