I am a Real Estate Photographer by profession at the moment as well as a non-traditional student returning to school. I am working on an Advance Woodturning Certificate from Red Rocks Community College in Colorado as well as a Beer Science degree from Metropolitan State College of Denver. These are possibly considered two extremes, but interests that bring me back to my core passions: wood working from my childhood learning from my father and grandfather and beer brewering from my adulthood. I cherish both for their complexities of bringing elements together to form a harmonious union of elements that please the senses. The two may be unlike on the surface, but the creativity and blending of elements to create things of beauty join the two in my mind. The design, mathmatics, science behind each provide a personal challenge to developing something others find attractive or in the case of liquid beverage - tasty.

Using a collection of woods donated by a fellow beginning woodworker, I created a toolbox pencil from the various woods she used in her projects. Black wood supporting the base with a combination of scrap maple and Wenge wood for the top portion. Maple Bowl with wood inay. This bowl was created to combine the skills learned in beginning woodturning and wood inlay classes as my final for both. The inlay is my grandfathers farm house in Weatherford, OK where I was first introduced to woodworking by my grandfather. The inlay combines the sunsets of Oklahoma, the canned pears from my grandparents orchard as well as the wheat fields on the farm. The bowl represents the full circle of discovering woodworking from a young age to returning to it after 40 plus years.
