Nightstands

By A. Surless Redesigns, Owner/ Artist in MIDDLETOWN, NY.

I was gifted these nightstands from a dear friend of mine who had been moving. They were in rough shape with the molding warped from water damage and cracks in the front and top.

The first thing I did was prep the pieces by giving them a good sanding and using wood filler to fill all cracks and gaps in wood.  The damaged molding, removed and replaced.

I first gave it a coat of Zinsser Bulls- Eye Shellac in White to seal in the tanins of the dark wood. Once dried I applied multiple coats (sanding in between) of Fusion Mineral Paint in the color Sterling to the exterior. And Fusion Mineral Paint in Casement to the interior.

Once the paint was dry I felt it needed something more so I lined the drawers and the back with wall paper that I had left over from a previous project. I used a spray adhesive to avoid as much moisture as possible.

Wow, it sure seems like a lot less work when it's typed out...
