Here's my latest gift to my wife! This entry table features an air dried walnut slab and some beautiful figured walnut and maple for the drawer. For this table I chose to incorporate sliding dovetails (holding the drawer supports up into the bottom of the top), half blind dovetails for the drawers, and a really neat curly maple handle with ebony inlay. The finish I chose for this piece is Waterlox original, hand rubbed and buffed with steel wool and paste wax. I played around with some designs for the base, but didn't want anything taking away from the concentration of the piece (the top and the especially magnificent drawer) and so I opted for hairpin legs. I normally don't like how they look, but they work perfectly for an entry table! My wife loves it!
