Oh My Land!

This piece was a labor of love and an inspirational vision brought to me from another artisan that I admire! Melanie at Windmill Vintage Design had done one and I knew when I saw this sofa that I too could transform an old sofa into this amazing bench! We deconstructed all the fabric and the springs, took out about a million staples and foam was everywhere!

I then hired a friend of mine who is a great carpenter and he measured, cut and installed all the wood you see here to sit on and lean against.

For the color and paint I used Behr Premium Plus in Tower Bridge to bring this to a beautiful country blue. I added General Finishes VanDyke Brown Glaze to all of the blue to deepen and give it that beautiful glazed sheen.

We stained the boards with different stain colors, including General Finishes Java Gel, Antique Walnut and Nutmeg by Minwax.

I hope you love what we created as a bench and I'll be busy working on another one from a small french vintage sofa soon!
