This oak pedestal table had a typical orange oak finish from the late 80's early 90's. You know the one I'm talking about...the one in Kevin McCallister's house from Home Alone! I took this dated oak table into the fabulous world of farmhouse by stripping the top and refinishing it with General Finishes' Java Gel Stain. This deep and rich wood stain gave this oak table the update it desperately needed. The base was primed with General Finishes' Stain Blocker and then painted with three coats of General Finishes' Linen Milk Paint. I accented the table with four reupholstered chairs that I found for free on the side of the road. To seal the entire piece so it holds up to family dinners, I sealed the piece with four coats of General Finishes High Performance Topcoat. I used Semi Gloss on the top and Satin on the base.
