General Finishes

This thrift store dresser only had three drawers, but was made to look like it had many more. The extra hardware and dark wood made the piece look heavy and clunky, and I decided to lighten it up with a coastal vibe. I filled in the faux drawer channels with wood moulding cut to size and a bit of wood filler. The top was sanded to raw wood then given a coat of General Finishes Gray Gel Stain to create a weathered, driftwood look. The body of the dresser was painted with chalk paint and heavily distressed. I decoupaged the sides of the drawers with paper that reminded me of the scales on a mermaid's tail, and I used General Finishes Gray Gel Stain on the decoupaged drawers as well to give them more of a weathered look. I sealed it with General Finishes High Performance Top Coat and new hardware completed the look.
