This dining room ensemble was truly a labor of love! I had the french provencial table already, but I'd painted the top black and the base gray to match my decor in my former home. I just moved into such a light, airy space that this called for some rustic white and a more natural stained top!
Using a variety of blonder shades of stain and greys, I achieved the color I wanted and then sealed the top with General Finishes' Arm R Seal, with four coats for long-lasting durability. It provides such a deep glow and the perfect amount of shine!
For the base of the table, I painted it General Finishes Milk Paint Antique White, then glazed with GF Burnt Umber, distressed, and sealed with their High Performance Top Coat in Flat. I then sought out dining room chairs and found a vintage Italian Chateau D'Ax set of four brown leather chairs, with a brown wood finish. I still needed two more seats, so I found an antique settee that seats two, with similar details.
I painted them all in a matching finish to the base of the table, using the antique white and burnt umber, getting those lovely details to pop!
I tied it all together by reupholstering all of them in matching fabrics, with a lovely watercolor peacock-print fabric on the backs, and a more durable gray fabric with just a touch of shine. Hammered in all 9 million of those antique gold nailhead trim back in, and now I have a set to enjoy for years!
