Striking Candle Holders

I found a beautifully shaped lamp at Goodwill, nevertheless the painted design was less than desirable.  I noticed a few silver platters in the next aisle and an idea sparked.  I knew I had to turn these eyesores into a trio of striking candle holders.  To begin the project, it is necessary clean all materials thoroughly.  You must cut the cord from the base of the lamp and unscrew the rod that feeds the wiring to the lamp mechanism.  Next using E6000 industrial strength adhesive, adhere the lamp base to the lamp.  Add more E6000 to the top of the lamp and adhere to the silver platter.  The following day, the E6000 is cured and ready to paint.  The first 2 coats of General Finishes Seagull Gray Milk paint is applied with a chip brush.  The last coat is applied with a foam brush for the perfect finish.  I am impressed how it covered well and was easy to spread as I applied General Finishes milk paint.  The luster is a beautiful semi-satin sheen. This ornate candleholder is beautifully understated, yet will demand attention in any room.
