Rescued Farmhouse Table

By Heather Varga in Beavercreek, OH.

This farmhouse style table was in bad shape when I brought it home. The turned style legs had deep teeth marks, and the bottom of the table was colored with crayons! The table had definitely been worn in and “loved.” I saw the potential in this table and began to work on it for nearly 4 weeks. I filled in all of the bad damaged areas with wood filler and sanded, and sanded, and sanded some more! The structure of the table was decent, but needed some wood replaced in the joints.

After the bones of the table were solid again, I painted a fresh coat of Old White by Annie Sloan and then applied French Linen by Annie Sloan with a wet distress. I followed up with Clear Wax by Annie Sloan. The tabletop was sanded all the way down and General Finishes Java Gel was applied and wiped back. Three coats of General Finishes Gel Topcoat in satin were applied last.  The table is now in a new home making new memories!
