Mod Triangle Dresser Makeover

By Reeves, owner at The Weathered Door

This old, dated, and beat up dresser made its way home with me from an estate sale. There was a lot I wanted to change starting with the hardware and color. I also wanted to make this into a statement piece by adding a mod geometric design to the drawer front.

To start I stripped the drawers, filled the hardware holes, and stained them with a custom mix of stains and sealed with satin HPTC. Next I taped off a trianglular design that purposefully covered the old (now filled) hardware holes and painted it with GF's milk paint in Snow White. Those portions were then sealed with High Performance Topcoat in gloss.

For the frame I mixed up a custom grey paint and brushed on 2 coats after priming with a stain blocking primer. The grey frame was sealed with HPTC in flat. Once everything was finished I chose new dark knobs and added them to the drawers to finish the piece off. The transformation is so drastic it hardly looks like the same piece!
