Hi New House, Meet Java!!

After renting the past 10 years, my husband and I finally purchased a home this January. It was COVERED in the infamous honey oak. My kitchen was stuck with a football field sized green countertop so I searched the internet for something to camouflage what I still call the Green Monster. Well search no more! I found General Finishes Java Gel Stain and have fallen in love. First, I cleaned the cabinets with 50/50 Denatured Alcohol and water and then sanded more than I wanted to due to a collection of layer upon layer of grease on the doors and cabinets. I guess they liked to fry..a lot! I then applied 3 layers of GF Java Gel Stain followed by 3 layers of GF High Performance Satin Topcoat. I used only 2" Foam Brushes which is my tool of choice. This was my first kitchen which has since turned my stay at home status into a full-time kitchen, bathroom, and staircase stainer/painter for friends and family. How did that even happen? My only stipulation to hire me? You must pick out only General Finishes products!
