I was so excited when I saw this piece on Craigslist. The framed flat fronts make for a good project to do a raised stencil. I found one whose pattern just fit the door, and using wall spackling created the raised stencil on the doors and drawer fronts. Painted it a medium blue, but it was just too flat (and blue) so I added a heavy black glaze, allowing the blue to highlight some areas. Painted the stencil and trim in gold, and finished the base in a satin poly before addind Java Gel Stain to the top and finishing in a semi gloss poly. Spray painted the pulls and knobs to match in gold to compliment the gilded trim.
