When my client brought this drum table to me for an update, my heart skipped a beat. I had never seen a bar set-up like this - ever! The outside curved doors moved on a track revealing a rotating bar. There were glass shelves and holes for liquor & wine bottles...a one stop shop for all your happy hour needs!
The leather top was fogged and cracked so I chemically stripped it off revealing a surprisingly nice wood grain top underneath. Because I was going with such a light shade of blue to coordinate with my client's new kitchen cabinets, I thoroughly cleaned, lightly sanded, and primed to prevent the dreaded "bleed through" of some mahogany finishes. I then brushed a couple of coats of Behr Tahoe Blue and sealed with several applications of High Performance top coat.
I painted the classic Duncan Phyfe lion's feet and faux lion head pulls with a silver spray paint, applied a light black glaze to pop the details, then sealed with a spray lacquer. A modern update of a very traditional - and very cool piece - was complete. Cheers!
