When I came across this chest I saw past all the drippy bright orange paint and I had an immediate vision for her.  After a few hours of sanding and cleaning I was excited to get my brush on her and turn her into the beauty she was meant to be. I painted her with Valspars "Mountain Smoke" mixed with Paint Minerals (Fine sanding between coats using a 220 sand block). Next I mixed 1/4 cup General Finishes High Performance Satin Top coat with 2 teaspoons of  GF Argentine Pearl effects and went over the entire piece using a 2 in. brush. Once dry, with a 2 in. brush I applied a light coat of GF Pitch Black Glaze using GF Enduro Extender to give myself a longer window of workable time. I did this step in sections and used a soft cloth to wipe of the access. I then sealed the entire piece with 2 coats of General finishes High Performance top coat using a nylon covered sponge. As my finishing touches I replaced the old hardware on the top drawer with new jewels and gilded the details and hardware with Baroque Art Gilders paste in "German Silver". I'm so please with how beautiful she turned out! A true Cinderella story!
