Weathered to Perfection

By BJ Buchter Massa, Owner at Junk’d Up in Carmel, IN.

This beautifully executed rustic finish was accomplished using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in four colors- Duck Egg, Coco, French Linen and Old White. I first applied details on the drawers by doing a raised stencil with Texture Medium by ArtsSyVille Embellishments from Artistic Painting Studio. Two coats of Duck Egg on the entire piece followed. After letting it dry, I brushed French Linen and Coco on the outer edges of the drawers and a touch of Old White to the center. While the paint was wet I sprayed a mixture of vinegar and water onto the piece and let it work it’s magic. I blended here and there with my fingers and a brush. I gave it all a quick light sanding with 220 grit sandpaper once dry. The piece was finished with a hand rubbed wax finish using Annie Sloan Clear Wax. Finally, new knobs reminiscent of seaglass from Hobby Lobby added the finishing touch.
