This linen cabinet was a little bit of a surprise. When it arrived it looked like in a very good shape but after scraping old paint from the top and drawer, I realised how badly damaged it was . It looked like a legion of woodworms had a little party inside and I decided at that time that best course of action will be to repaint it all. Inspiration for this piece came from another linen cabinet that I have made for myself some time ago. My customer fell in love with it and she wanted to recreate something similar. As a big thank you to my lovely customer I have named this piece after her . I have used few different techniques to create this style: raised stencil, distressing using candle wax and furniture wax, crackle lacquer (by pentart), textures were achieved by using milk paints (MMSMP). I have also used oil from (HMF24), stencils by FAFAME, patinas by Jegger and Liberon waxes. It was my second piece using GF paints and i was so impressed by their coverage. It’s not going to be the last time when I’m using this amazing product.
Main colours used in this piece were Gf Milk Paint-snow white and Acrylic paint by Dulux Rapidry - winter calm Piece has been protected using GF high performance varnish except top and a drawer where i used Liberon wax.
I wasn’t trying to hide small imperfections on this cabinet, I think they are adding some real character and showing long history of this piece. I so very hope that My lovely customer Martha will love it as much as I do and I hope she will use it for very many years to come.
