This Forest Park cedar chest has been painted using an ombre effect. Birchwood appliques were added to the corners to compliment the original appliques. They were painted with dixie belle's bronze patina paint then sprayed with green and blue activator. The shield emblem on the front was painted with the iron patina paint and then sprayed with rust applicator. The body was painted in dropcloth as a base. Moving upwards, layers of chalky chicks beechwood is layered above the white with vertical brushing and blending. Fusion's pale gold is layered above the beechwood. I lightly distress then add another layer of beechwood and a layer of dixie belle's vintage duck egg. Sanding again, I blend more of the colors until I acheive the effect I am looking for. I dab on some silver rub n buff and gold rub n buff to make the colors shimmer like the sun upon the shimmering water. I dry brush more vintage duck egg in areas to create dimension. The top is stained dark walnut.
