Sea Sage Beauty

By Bethany Youssef, Owner at Madeline Jean Antiques & Restoration, LLC in Hampton Falls, NH.

This antique dresser dates back to 1870-1900. I can identify the dates of the dresser because of the joint used on the drawers. It's called a Knapp Joint. This diamond in the rough was found at a yard sale in Hampton, NH. I bought three pieces that day! Two of these dressers were almost identical. With this particular dresser I decided to paint it a pretty sage green color. I sanded the top and stained it a dark java color. I then decided to have a little fun and I stenciled gold metallic feathers on the inside of each of the drawers. I went further and stenciled each side of the dresser as well. I replaced all the old wooden knobs with gorgeous glass knobs with gold centers.
