All hail the Sea Queen from the lost city of Atlantis. This small wardrobe/armoire is a treasure to behold. The myriad colors of the ocean swirl in magical ways about the surface interspersed with flecks of gold like glittering coins from a sunken treasure chest or the sun playing on the ocean waves. Bright pink of coral peek through the crackled, sea battered surface as rough as the wood of a sea wrecked ship. The interplay of color and texture make this piece unique and the antithesis of factory finished furniture. The crackles in the paint create a story. All of it's flaws make it sublime. The interior has a whitewashed, removable shelf, clothes hanging rod, and two cubby spaces. The 24kt gold plated, cut crystal glass knobs scintillate in the light like diamonds in the rough. I used a lot of layers of paint, crackling, and used a putty knife to create more texture. The front has patina which creates the swirling blue, green, and white colors like the sea. A little bit of gold leaf catches the light. The gold plated base of the cut crystal glass knobs is so scintillating. They're like diamonds refracting the light. It's a quality knob from D. Lawless Hardware. The transfer is from Iron Orchid Designs. Painted with dixie belle sea glass, dropcloth, mint julep, plum crazy, fusion inglenook, heirloom, pale gold, chalky chicks beechwood, modern masters copper patina paint, dixiebelle iron patina paint, modern masters blue activator and green, valspar crackling solution, rub n buff patina, renaissance Aegean coral, driftwood wax and gold leaf. Sealed with varathane.
