Radio Cabinet to Pantry Cabinet

By Melissa Geskie, Owner/Artist at The Top Drawer RVA in Henrico, VA.

This little beauty was picked up at a local thrift store, sat untouched in my storage for ages due to needing so much work. I structurally repaired with L brackets inside, had the face of the wood (when doors opened) cut out, this would have been where the radio was located and had the speaker and dials. A shelf was added inside and a new back was put on to finish.

Original hardware was left to the piece. I used multiple shades of blue in different paint brands blended together to achive this look. See product list. The drippy front was Prarie Grey, a clay based paint by Debi's Design Diary. It was applied then sprayed with water to achieve this effect. I applied a IOD mould to the front base to add some character. She gained new function as a kitchen pantry in someones home. From broken and unused to a upcycled beauty with a new purpose!
