This cedar chest was given a new life with paint and wax and given as a wedding gift to my daughter and new son-in-law in starting their new life.
Once it was cleaned and sanded, two coats of Wise Owl Weathervane was applied then one coat of Grecian Clay. Very light wet distressing was done with a baby wipe and then with a high grit sandpaper along the edges to give a worn "hand-me-down" look. It was all sealed up with GF HPTC Flat and then Amy Howard Antiquing Wax was used around the edges for aging. This was my first attempt at waxing and very pleased with how it turned out. The top was stripped and given new foam and a gorgeous damask fabric to complete. The original hardware was used to keep the family heirloom look and I'm sure hoping that is exactly what it becomes and gets handed down to their child.
