The Jack

By Eastcote Lane, Teresa in Wayne, PA.

I love what chalk based paints can do, and one of the things I love most is painting fabrics and leather.

So this beautiful chair had an ivory colored gorgeous leather that had been stained :-(

So....... lets have some fun, and pay tribute to my English childhood (English Mum, Milltary US Dad), and throw a nod to rock and roll with a Union Jack! It was a crazy difficult pattern to put on both back and seat, but I think it turned out to be one of my best.

I used a base of white, then taped out my pattern and filled in the red and blue, pulled the tape, did a light sand, and then a couple of coats of dark brown wax. It feels like the original leather! I painted the frame black to really pop it, and distressed the nail heads back for some bling!

It's a real throne! This is a piece I did a couple of years ago, and I know that it is holding up to daily use just fine! I think it's my favorite piece, so a natural choice for this contest :-)

Fingers crossed :-)
